Nestled in the heart of Royal Oak, Jim Brady's Royal Oak stands out as a vibrant American restaurant and bar that masterfully blends classic flavors with a contemporary twist. Whether you're stopping by for a lively happy hour or settling in for a relaxed dinner, this spot offers an inviting atmosphere filled with warm, rustic charm and that comforting buzz of good conversation.
The menu is a curated journey through expertly prepared American fare, enhanced with elevated ingredients and thoughtful presentation. Start your experience with tantalizing appetizers like the Crispy Brussels—flash-fried brussels sprouts tossed with toasted pecans and dried cherries, drizzled with a cherry maple vinaigrette that strikes a perfect balance of sweet and savory. For a seafood delight, the Spanish Octopus with its romesco and garlic aioli brings a satisfying smokiness and depth, while the Tuna Wonton Bites offer a playful fusion of Asian flavors with soy-ginger marinated ahi tuna and a touch of kimchi heat.
When it comes to entrees, Jim Brady’s truly shines. The Seared & Roasted Salmon arrives beautifully plated with charred rapini and a luscious celery root yogurt puree, elevated by a balsamic reduction that leaves a lingering tang on the palate. The hearty Fish & Chips showcases perfectly beer-battered haddock with crispy noodle slaw and a zesty citrus-dill tartar sauce—an absolute must-try for classic comfort food lovers. For steak enthusiasts, the 8 oz Filet Mignon served with Yukon gold mashed potatoes and asparagus, topped with a rich red wine demi-glace, is a tender and melt-in-your-mouth delight that exudes indulgence.
Desserts here are equally memorable. The beloved Amazing Grace’s Carrot Cake is a standout — Grandma Grace Brady’s family recipe from the 1950s that has been lovingly preserved through generations. Served warm, gooey, and festive with pineapple, toasted coconut, pecans, and cream cheese frosting, it’s a nostalgic finish that feels like a sweet hug. For chocolate lovers, The Temptation dark chocolate tart with almond mousse and salted caramel is decadence on a plate, while the homemade Vernors ice cream gives a nod to Detroit classics with its unique, refreshing twist.
What really sets Jim Brady’s apart is the perfectly balanced dining atmosphere. Whether it’s an intimate lunch meeting, a casual rendezvous with friends during happy hour, or a special occasion dinner, the space feels comfortable yet sophisticated. Erika Baker praises the “great ambience” and “perfectly cooked” dishes that make every visit feel deliberate and cared-for, while Jovan’s account of a New Year’s Eve dinner showcases how the kitchen’s attention to detail—from the flaky pastry enveloping the tender beef Wellington to the lovingly crafted sauces—elevates elevated dining.
Even with some mixed reviews on certain dishes, such as the fish and chips, the overall consensus centers on consistently attentive service paired with finely crafted food and a lively yet relaxed atmosphere. Visitors like Fb Nnnnbn emphasize the wonderful combination of delicious food, excellent drinks, and a welcoming milieu that keeps them coming back.
Whether you’re craving classic American flavors with a sophisticated edge or simply looking for a comfortable spot to unwind with a drink and great company, Jim Brady’s Royal Oak offers a thoughtfully curated menu and approachable elegance that invites you to savor every bite and moment.

Great ambience. We shared two appetizers, the tenderloin steak bites, which were cooked to a perfect perfection and the chicken thighs with tater tots. Perfect portions and food was cooked just right. Great spot for intimate lunch meeting
We have been here before for happy hour, but on new years eve we decided to have dinner and enjoy some very good dishes. I got the beef wellington and my girlfriend got the stuffed sea bass. My beef wellington was amazing, the sauce was rich and well seasoned the pastry around the beef was delicious and the beef was tender and cooked perfectly. I also ordered a side of mashed potatoes and they were smooth and paired perfectly with my dish. My girlfriend got the stuffed sea bass and it was buttery and perfectly balanced and seasoned. Both dishes were tasty and worth the price. I will definitely be back and I would recommend this if you're looking for good meal.
comfortable group lunch. Fresh salad greens and many flavorful choices. the burgers are beautifully prepared and presented. enjoy.
A friend of mine told me I should try this place out since I love good food and great atmospheres. They really recommended the fish and chips which I purchased The fish on some big serving and the coleslaw was delicious. The fish was just okay to me. I've had better but the presentation was beautiful. I think if they put a pinch of salt that would change everything for the fish. I most definitely will go back and try something else, but I don't think I'll try the fish again. I would most definitely recommend this place. The atmosphere is beautiful, the service was A1

I can’t say enough good things about Jim Brady’s Royal Oak and owner Tom Brady! We hosted my bridal shower brunch here, and it was absolutely perfect. The food was delicious, the drinks were amazing, and the atmosphere was exactly what I wanted — classy, warm, and fun. Tom and his team went above and beyond to make everything run smoothly and feel special. I’m so grateful for their hospitality and can’t imagine a better place to celebrate such a meaningful day
